why are we so scared of doing what we love?
If these dreams that we think about and sometimes daydream about make us feel this happy, why then are we so scared to follow through with it?
Hey love,
Why are we so scared of doing what we love?
I would like to believe that we all have dreams that makes us feel alive, the thought of these dreams makes our heart feel light and our tummy filled with butterflies. If these dreams that we think about and sometimes daydream about make us feel this happy, why then are we so scared to follow through with it?
The reason for this, I have come to understand is as a result of FEAR. Fear that comes as a result of what we think people would say when they hear about it or the fear that stems from us thinking we are not good enough. At the end of the end, if we let these fears stop us from going after what we want, we will just be left with the regrets of “what ifs?” what if I didn’t care about what these people thought or what if I was brave enough?
I heard this quote from a podcast I was listening to during the week and it goes like this “the difference between those that go after what they love and succeed and those that do not is SELF-BELIEVE. Honestly, self-believe is so important. Having massive faith in yourself can make you get to places beyond your wildest expectations. Some people lack believe in themselves because of the fear of the unknown. They are so scared that it might not work out or that they might fail. So what if the initial plan that you thought through didn’t work out, you re-strategize, you change the plan and you go again. So what if you fail, its part of the journey. You can’t learn if you don’t fail.
Some other people’s fear, is that they are not as good as other in that field or they don’t have what it takes. The truth is that many of those people we look up to and feel like they are so good or perfect all started from somewhere. A baby doesn’t start working the day its born, it goes through several stages until it is able to finally take that step. If you feel like you have to wait till you are perfect to take that leap of faith, you might never take that leap because you will never feel ready. The only way to be ready is to just believe in yourself and take that leap.
what I have come realize is that following our dreams is not going to be easy, it is going require us to commit to that vision, carefully plan and learn how to be consistent for months or years as the case may be. But following our dream in spite of the risk is a worthy and beautiful journey, one that leads to personal fulfilment, growth, self-confidence and inner peace.
As we all know, we can’t achieve our dream by just sitting around and daydreaming about it. We actually have to make an effort to get it. So I will be giving you some tips on our to chase your dreams successfully. The tips I would be giving you are the tips I got from my rigorous research on successful people and their secret to their success.
Tip 1: have a plan.
You having a dream but not having a plan on how to achieve it, is just wishful thinking. You have to figure what you want to do. Be specific, know what you want. Most people who don’t figure out what they want to do end up doing what people tell them to do or just settle for what is safe and comfortable. So its important to know what you want and why you want it. It would be a good driving force.
Tip 2 I: Figure out the steps its going to take to get there.
Figure out the necessary skills that you would need to achieve that dream and start working on it.
Tip 3: Break it into smaller goals.
It is very easy for us to feel overwhelmed especially when the goal looks to large for us to comprehend. Hence the need for us to break it into smaller goals, that way we feel less overwhelmed. So all the things that you need to know break it into smaller goals and try to achieve them daily.
Tip 4: Be consistent.
As I said earlier perfection comes with time and long periods of rigorous practice. So you have to be disciplined to put in the effort to do something each day that helps in the fulfilment of your dream. You have to do this thing even if you don’t feel in the mood to do it. Be consistent in the good days and bad days. it is only with constant practice that you can get better at what you do, which will make the possibility of your dream becoming a reality, more likely.
Tip 5 : Be prepared for failure
when you do this, you are being realistic and you are going to be able to deal with failure in a productive way. when you are prepared for failure, you are more likely to use your failure to grow and continue to improve rather than becoming depressed about the setback. This is another trait of highly motivated people.
Tip 6: Learn from people that are doing what you want to do.
Follow people that are where you want to be, watch how they got on their own personal journey. look at how they do things, ask them questions and learn from their mistakes.
Tip 7: Be around people that motivate you.
Being around people that motivate you to be better is so important. Be around people that support you and celebrate your little wins not people that belittle your dreams and make you doubt yourself.
with the little I have said, I hope you are motivated to follow your dream and put into good use the few tips I have given on how to successfully chase your dream.
Coming into the next segment of this newsletter I’m going to be sharing with you the podcast of the week. The podcast I will be sharing with you, was a huge source of inspiration to me and I know its going to be the same for you. One of the most important thing I learnt in this podcast is to own your authenticity. Believe in yourself so hard that other people don’t have a choice but to believe in you. Check out the podcast to learn more amazing things.
Here is the quote for the week

Here are my top three songs of the week
One last thing I will leave you with before I let you go, There’s an old Nike Slogan that said, “Life is Short, Play Hard”. Life is too short to not really live it to its full potential. A life spent going after your dream can be filled with adventure, meaning, and purpose. So don’t waste your time doing something you don’t love, create a life you can’t wait to wake up to.
Also if you loved this newsletter don’t forget to share it to your family and friends, I would really appreciate that.
Bye love, see you next week Sunday
