hey love,
Patience the secret to success
Patience is something I struggle with and it is not the easiest of emotions to deal with. I think my issue with patience is having to deal with uncertainty and the unknown, and for someone like me who is somewhat of a control freak and deals with anxiety, having patience is more like a hassle for me.
This past week taught me a few things and they are, to stop comparing my journey with others, have patience and to trust the process. So earlier this week, I was scrolling through social media and I stumbled on a post of a girl I follow. After looking at the post, I started scrolling through her other posts and just seeing how amazing her life looked, made me feel sad. I started unintentionally comparing my life to hers. Asking myself, when I too would be in that amazing position to also live my best life. Why my life wasn’t as amazing as hers and why I was in my present position.
What I realized was that due to the fact that I had not really seen much progress with what I was doing and I had suddenly been hit with this persons success, I became impatient, I wanted to rush the process not bearing in mind that success takes time and effort and most importantly trusting the process.
After this experience I had, I was inspired to talk about it in this week’s Newsletter, because I know this is not a feeling that is just peculiar to me, it is something that at one point in our lives we all have had to deal with.
At some points in our lives, we have compared our journey’s with others, asking ourselves questions like why are things working out for out her and not for me? Why is my own not doing so well as hers? why is my own taking time? what I realized this past week, having been in the same situation myself, is that we compare ourselves to others, when we lack patience and fail to trust the process.
Trusting the process is about letting go and having faith that things will work out in their own time, knowing that there is no magic pill for success that it takes diligence and perseverance.
Often times we tend to get frantic about things things that aren’t happening, obsessing over the results in lives, especially when they don’t align with our expectation because we keep comparing our journey with other people’s own.
Constantly comparing and evaluating your success with others will always make you feel weaker and sad, and you will never reach a point where you will be a hundred percent happy with yourself.
Trusting the process is recognizing that your journey is different and unique and you are not in a competition with anyone. It is about enjoying the path to your destination, rather than just fixating on the destination. It is about recognizing that success is rarely a straight line and that setbacks and failures are a natural part of the learning process.
It is so easy for us to see other people doing well in certain things and become jealous. Often times we forget that this people we are comparing ourselves to also had their own fair share of waiting. they didn’t just have overnight success, they put in the work to get to where they are. So stop comparing your journey with theirs
Remember that nothing good in life comes easy. Success takes time. You have to be diligent and you have to persevere. you have to be consistent in putting in the effort and working hard. The only way you can do this is by being patient. Some people want overnight success, but that is not realistic. The only way you can be successful is by knowing that success takes time and being patient while waiting for your own time. Don’t rush the process, do what you have to do, put in the effort and wait for your own time.
I hope this helps you to stop comparing yourself and inspires you to be more patient.
