The Holiday is over and you can say I’m Grumpy

How to overcome post holiday blues and get right back into work mode

Hey my loves,

The Holiday is over and you can say I’m Grumpy

The Holiday is over and you can say I’m not excited about that. Honestly how did the holiday fly so fast? these past few days I have just been grumpy and irritated at the fact that the holiday is over and I have to get back to real life which sucks. I just kept thinking about all the things I have to get done and my pending workload and lets just say I got pretty much overwhelmed and fatigued about thinking about everything that I just couldn’t be productive.

I knew that I couldn’t let this post holiday blues spoil my routine and keep me from being productive so, I had to do something about it because as a “better me girly” we are all about being productive and better versions of ourselves and so I would be sharing with you some of the tips I found that will help you get out of that post holiday blues you are experiencing. so sit back, enjoy and learn.

Just in case you are not aware of what post holiday blues is, it is a common thing that is experienced by many people after returning from an enjoyable and relaxing holiday. As soon as the holiday comes to an end many people are faced with a feeling of fatigue and sadness known as “Post holiday blues”.

The post holiday blues can make you feel tired and unmotivated, make it hard to concentrate and make you feel generally unhappy. No matter how long or short the holiday is, the transition from holiday mode to regular life can often be difficult and that’s why I would be giving you these tips to help.

so the first thing you have to do is come to terms with the fact that the holiday is over. No amount of whining and complaining is going to change that. Reflect on how amazing the holiday was, the amazing experiences you enjoyed and bid it goodbye. It’s gone.

Now, try to catch up on all the things you left alone for the holiday and where you have to start from now that you are back. ( You know those work emails and school notifications that we said we are not checking because we didn’t want to spoil our holiday cheer, its time to sort them out.) In as much as you are trying to catch up on all the things you missed, Try not to focus on the billion things that you have to do immediately it will only make you feel overwhelmed and tired. Try to slowly get yourself back into the work mode. Give your body the ability to catch up with your present reality.

A way you can do this is by slowly getting back into your regular daily routine. So if due to the holiday you started sleeping late and waking up late, it might be time to get back to your normal sleeping time of sleeping early and waking up early. This would make your body understand that you are no more on Holiday mode.

Another thing you can do is to plan ahead. Try to make your first day back to work as easy and relaxing as possible because your first day mood sets the tone for the whole week. That’s where planning ahead comes in to play. Try to complete little task that you will need to get done on Monday during the weekend. That way you have less things to fret about on Monday and you will have a smooth entrance back in to work mode.

Try not to overwhelm yourself. Yes you have a lot of things that you need to catch up on and get done but it is not everything that you have to complete on your first day back at work. Break it down and take the tasks a day at a time. Do the best that you can do but don’t kill yourself trying to get everything done in a day.

Another thing to do is try to tackle the most intimidating task first. Avoiding it would only prolong your stressing about it. so get the hard thing done first and then focus later on less stressful tasks.

Lastly try to maintain an optimistic attitude . Look forward to things that excites you about school or work and focus on that and maybe then you will feel less sad that the holiday has come to an end. This brings us to the end of tips and I hope you found them helpful.

Here is the Quote for the week

The holiday is over and its time to get back to reality, remember your goals don’t care how you feel.

Here is the podcast for the week

I found this podcast to be really insightful and I think you should check it out.

Coming to the final part of this Newsletter, three lessons I learnt this week;

1.) earlier this week I listened to a podcast about this really successful guy. He was talking about his journey to success and after listening to his story I came to realize that the difference between successful people and those that are not, is that those that are successful are willing to pay the price and go that extra mile to get what they want. Many times we want to be successful but we are not ready to pay that price.

2.) taking a break is also as important as being productive.

3.) Nobody can be you better than you, so don’t waste your time be the fake version of someone else. Accept your strength and your weaknesses, embraces your quirks and your weirdness and just do you and own it.

we have come to the end of this newsletter, and it means a lot to me that you read it to this point. If you enjoyed reading it, don’t forget to share it to your friends and tell them to subscribe to the Newsletter. Thank you.

bye boo and see you next week Sunday
