Happiness is not found in something, it's found within you

often times, what we are looking for is within us, we just have to find it

hey my love,

Happiness is not found in things, it’s found within you

Have you ever caught yourself saying when I get to this level, or when I get this stuff or when I have this amount of money or when I reach this goal I would be happy and then you reach that point and you just feel empty? If you have experienced this you are not alone in this, you are amongst billions of people who have felt this same way.

Most times we feel like we can’t be happy until certain things are the way we want it and then we get these things and then we feel empty because rather than feeling happy within ourselves, we put our happiness in the hands of these things. The truth about life is that nothing can ever make us happy if we are not happy within ourselves.

During the week I stumbled across an article that spoke about how nothing can make you happy if you don’t fix your mind. This statement resonated so much with me because it is so true. No matter how many things you have or how far you go, if you have an unhappy mind, you will never truly be happy.

so, rather than waiting till you get to a certain level or have achieved a certain goal before you feel happy, try to be happy within yourself, in the stage that you are, regardless of whether or not you have achieved your goals or gotten to the position that you want to be. learn to be happy with yourself, while in the process of getting your goal or achieving whatever that you want. No amount of achievements and money can give you the happiness that you want if you are not already happy within yourself.

one of the tips to being happy with yourself is loving yourself. You cannot be happy with yourself if you hate the person you see in the mirror everyday, so learn to accept who you are and love yourself. Learn to love your flaws and imperfections and rather than seeing them as flaws see them as things that make you unique and special.

another tip to being happy is loving what you do. We spend a huge amount of our life as human beings working, so if you hate your job, that would be a huge amount of your life time spent being unhappy. so try your best to ensure that the job that you have is something that you actually like and enjoy. If it means following your dream or passion, then by all means please do.

Being social is another way to increase your happiness. we humans are designed to be social beings and that’s why its important that we connect with one another. No one can live alone or in isolation, so it is necessary that you build a strong relationship with your family and friends. spend time with your family and friends. engage in activities that helps bond you guys together. Research says that strong relationship with family and friends can help bolster your mood, improve your outlook, and preserve your mental well-being.

Regular practice of gratitude is a key way to feeling happy within you. Feeling grateful for what you have and where you are and just being mindful can help you be more positive and that in turn can help you feel happier.

Also avoid comparing yourself to others. comparison is the thief of joy. Don’t kill your joy by comparing your life to another person’s own. often times things aren’t always as they seem. Sometimes people you compare yourself with or just wish to have their life might be going through tough things you are just not aware about. so don’t waste your time comparing yourself to others. celebrate your small wins and trust in the process.

lastly, learn to do nice things for yourself and invest in selfcare. every week try to reward yourself by doing something nice for yourself after the week’s stress. Do something nice that makes you feel relaxed and you look forward to doing at the end of each week. This will make you feel happier.

here is the quote of the week

stop waiting for Friday, for Summer, for someone to fall in love with you, for life. Happiness is achieved when you stop waiting for it and make the most of the moment you are in now.

here is the podcast for the week;

this podcast tells about the early upbringing of Oprah and some of the interesting traits that she had that made her the woman she is now.

one of the few things that I learnt from this podcast is that it is important that you believe in yourself even if others do not believe in you, trust your gut and follow your instinct.

Also no matter how bad your life is at the moment you always have the ability to create a better life for yourself, you just have to believe that you can.

check out the podcast the learn more cool things.

My Top Three lessons of the week;

1.) Always learn to be grateful for what you have, all it takes is a second and everything could be gone. so always learn to be grateful. We don’t always appreciate what we have until we lose it and that’s something this week taught me. Do not take anything for granted.

2.) we can do anything we set our minds to do, all we have to do is change our mindset and be positive.

3.) To all the people pleasers like me, nobody will be considerate or do right by you, if you don’t consider yourself first. Don’t kill yourself trying to make others happy at the expense of your own happiness, because at the end of the day, they won’t care. So when it’s not okay for you learn to speak up.

we have come to the end of this newsletter and it means a great deal to me that you read it to this level. remember being happy with yourself is the practice of feeling satisfied with your identity, progress, and situation in the present moment. Happy people still have problems or growth opportunities in their lives, but they allow themselves to feel proud and comfortable with themselves right now. If you enjoyed reading this newsletter don’t forget to share it with your family and friends. Wishing you a productive week ahead.

Bye boo, see you next week Sunday,

Better Me Girl.
